About Muriel

Muriel Foxton

Muriel Foxton is an Equine Physical Therapist, qualified in Equine Integrative Support Therapies (Equi-Ed, Distinction), and based in Wexford, Ireland.

A strong passion for horses throughout life has led me on the most worthwhile journey. Having owned and ridden horses all my life, a turning point in my horsemanship came when I attended a two-week horsemanship clinic at Cardinal Ranch, Canada in 2017. Blown away by the horsemanship, I returned for four months in 2019 joining the small Horse Development Team. I learned about equine psychology and the principles of horsemanship and put it into practice on the ground and in the saddle to develop young horses. Dedicated to practising evidence-based principles in horsemanship and horse development, this experience transformed the way I work with horses. It was a stepping stone in leading me to a career in equine therapy, which provides me with a way to work hands on with horses with their welfare to the fore.

As a therapist, my mission is to help horses to feel and move better enabling them to live happier, healthier lives and thrive in their equestrian pursuits. I provide physical therapy through myofascial release, massage, kinesiology taping, lymphatic drainage and red and infrared light therapy. I specialise mainly in myofascial release, a gentle hands-on technique applied to release tension and restrictions to the fascia and muscles. In my sessions, I use a combination of myofascial release and massage techniques to stimulate beneficial physiological effects and support the body to heal and maintain itself optimally.

Always a student of the horse, I’m dedicated to lifelong learning and continual personal and professional development.
